Mentre un tempo ogni famiglia aveva il suo forno in casa con cui si autoproduceva il pane necessario, nel dopoguerra il forno da cui si rifornivano i caprezzesi era presso il Ponte Nivia, nel fondovalle, dove la strada carrabile che arriva da Intra oggi si divide in un bivio con indicazioni per Intragna e per Aurano. Qui vi era anche un’osteria, frequentata da tutta la valle; ancora oggi si legge la scritta sulla facciata. Il forno veniva venduto in gran quantità presso i due negozi di alimentari del paese, dove compravano frutta, verdura, tantissimo pane. Con la corriera venivano anche da Intra. Vendevano formaggio, salame, il riso e la pasta erano sciolti, il caffè era in grani non tostato, da tostare dopo sul camino. - Graziella Caretti, 2018 -
While each family had its own oven at home with which the necessary bread was self-produced, in the post-war period the oven through which the inhabitants of Caprezzo stocked up with bread was near the Ponte Nivia, in the valley bottom, where the carriageable road that arrives from Intra splits today into a crossroads with indications to Intragna and Aurano. Here there was also a tavern, frequented by the whole valley; the inscription on the facade is still visible today. The bread was sold in large quantities at the two grocery stores in the village, where they bought fruit, vegetables and a lot of bread. They also came from Intra by the coach.
