La “Corsa degli Asini” come veniva chiamato un tempo, ebbe inizio nel 1954 quando un gruppo di giovani amici, per burla, iniziarono a correre in groppa agli asini per le vie del paese. I fantini correvano solo per ridere oppure per scommetterci una bevuta, presto la burla divenne una vera e propria tradizione, tanto che nel 1981, ispirandosi al più famoso Palio di Siena, si trasformò in Palio degli Asini con una vera e propria organizzazione a cui partecipano ogni anno gli otto rioni premosellesi o “cantoni” più le due frazioni: Cuzzago e Colloro. La manifestazione si articola in due momenti: la
corsa a cronometro, in cui si fanno correre uno alla volta i fantini, e la
corsa in linea, con la partecipazione contemporanea di tutti i cantoni.
Ciascun cantone ha la propria bandiera, il simbolo, il capo cantone e il fantino, in corsa per aggiudicarsi il trofeo del palio. Poiché, per questioni di praticità, la testa in marmo dell'asino non viene più data, il fantino viene premiato con una coppa e il cantone vincente con un'opera che ogni anno cambia a seconda dell'artista locale che la prepara.
Per l’occasione il paese viene addobbato con striscioni e bandiere dei colori dei dieci cantoni elencati qui di seguito:

- Cantun Cruseta, bianco/fucsia
- Cantun Sant’Anna, bianco/lilla
- Cantun Centro, bianco/verde
- Cantun Vagna, bianco/rosso
- Cantun Gabi, bianco/granata
- Cantun Gesa, bianco/arancione
- Cantun Flech, bianco/blu
- Cantun Clor, bianco/verdone
- Cantun Cusciag, bianco/giallo
Il Palio degli Asini si tiene il 15 agosto, in concomitanza con le due settimane di feste del Ferragosto premosellese.
The “Donkey Race”, as it was called in the past, began in 1954 when a group of young friends started to ride the donkeys in the streets of the village. The jockeys ran only to laugh or to bet a drink, but soon the joke became a real tradition, so much so that in 1981, inspired by the famous Palio of Siena, it was transformed into the Donkey Palio with a real organization, in which every year the eight districts of Premosello or “cantons” and the two hamlets of Cuzzago and Colloro participate. The event is divided into two phases:
the stopwatch race, in which the jockeys run one at a time, and
the in- line race, with the simultaneous participation of all the cantons.
Each canton has its own flag, the symbol, the chief canton and the jockey, running to win the trophy of the Palio. Since, for practical reasons, the donkey's marble head is no longer given, the jockey is rewarded with a cup and the winning canton with a work that changes every year depending on the local artist who prepares it.
For the occasion the village is decorated with banners and flags of the ten cantons listed below:

The Donkey Palio is held on August 15, on the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption in Premosello.
