La nascita dell’Oratorio si confonde con la nascita del paese stesso di Miazzina e si fa risalire al ‘600. Dicono che sia stata la prima Chiesa del paese, mentre la casa parrocchiale era staccata da essa. Pare che la voce sia infondata, perché la prima chiesetta è l’Oratori della Madonna di Pompei, all’ingresso del paese. Esso è posto a monte del luogo là, e si affaccia su una piazzetta erbosa delimitata da un basso muro di pietra, che si appoggia al muro della chiesa fungendo da panchina. Suggestiva è la scala che porta alla chiesa, partendo dalla fontana recentemente restaurata, e che è stata oggetto di numerose fotografie, cartoline e quadri del pittore Tominetti. L’Oratorio ha un corpo unico, affiancato da una piccola sacrestia comunicante. Due finestre simmetriche all’entrata, sulla facciata, garantiscono l’illuminazione. Le panche dell’Oratorio sono dedicate alle famiglie che, come ex voto o come ricordo di cari defunti, ne hanno acquistato la dedicazione.
The building of the Oratory is often confused with the birth of the village of Miazzina and dates back to the 17th century. It is said that it was the first church in the village, while the parish house was separate from it. It seems that the rumour is unfounded, because the first church is the Oratori della Madonna di Pompei, at the entrance to the village. It is placed upstream of luogo là, and overlooks a grassy square delimited by a low stone wall, which rests on the church wall acting as a bench. The staircase leading to the church, starting from the fountain recently restored, is very suggestive and has been the subject of numerous photographs, postcards and paintings by the painter Tominetti. The Oratory has a single body, with a small annexed sacristy. Two symmetrical windows at the entrance, on the facade, ensure the illumination of the environment. The benches of the Oratory are dedicated to families who, as a votive offering or in memory of their beloved ones, have acquired its dedication.
