“Il costume tradizionale di S. Bernardino Verbano, a differenza di altri paesi, purtroppo non esiste più come realtà quotidiana. Solo osservando alcune foto dei nonni e bisnonni e andando a rovistare in qualche vecchio baule, specialmente a Rovegro, è stato riscoperto il costume femminile delle feste e di tutti i giorni, portato orgogliosamente dalle Donne del Parco”. Vi sono due modelli documentati, entrambi ad abito intero, uno con le maniche e l’altro senza. La gonna ampia ha arricciature fitte sul retro, con balze sul fondo. Le maniche lunghe hanno increspature sulle spalle. Il corpetto è aderente, con scollatura a V o quadrata, con pences che partono dalla vita, solitamente nero. Sotto l’abito si indossa una camicia leggera a manica lunga, bianca con pizzi al collo e ai polsini. Una giacchetta di lanetta, cotone o velluto e stretta in vita completa l’abito, insieme al grembiule, di colori che riprendono quelli del vestito. Il capo viene coperto con un foulard a fantasie floreali.

There are two documented models, both are whole dresses: one with sleeves and the other without. The wide skirt is gathered on the back, with frills at the bottom. The long sleeves are gathered on the shoulders. The corsage is tight, with V-shaped or square neckline, with folds starting from the waist; it is usually black. Under the dress there is a light long-sleeved blouse, it is white with lace on the collar and on the wristbands. A wool, cotton or velvet waist-tight jacket completes the dress, together with the apron, with colours that match those of the dress. The headscarf has floral decorations.
