Così è chiamata una delle frazioni del capoluogo, composta da case in pietra per la maggior parte abitate. Nella frazione, nel punto più elevato del paese, sorge un’antica casa-forte che domina tutto il territorio circostante e nel passato ne consentiva il controllo e ne garantiva la difesa.
L’edificio medioevale fu la residenza della nobile famiglia dei Conti de Salatis dal XIII secolo che in seguito assunse il nome di Conti Della Guardia, dal toponimo del luogo: la Vardia. Col passare del tempo furono chiamati semplicemente Conti, un cognome assai diffuso in paese. L’abitato è stato chiaramente più volte modificato ed ingrandito ed appartiene a diversi proprietari.
Castello is one of the hamlets of Trontano, consisting of stone houses mostly inhabited. In the hamlet, at the top of the village, there is an ancient house-fortress that overlooks the whole surrounding territory and that in the past allowed the defence of the village.
In the 13th century the medieval building was the residence of the noble family of the Conti de Salatis, which later took the name of Conti della Guardia, from the place name: la Vardia. Later, they were simply called Conti, a surname that was very common in the village. The residential area of the village was changed and enlarged several times and now it belongs to different owners.
