Questa cappella, situata in mezzo al bosco lungo la mulattiera che da Cambiesso scende al capoluogo di Intragna, riporta al suo interno un affresco con la crocifissione di Gesù. Si dice che nei suoi dintorni in passato si manifestava più volte “la Fisica”, ovvero una serie di apparizioni, visioni di luci e presenze misteriose, avvistate dagli abitanti del luogo durante la notte.
Si narrava che il parroco, appostandosi sulla sommità del campanile, tramite l’utilizzo di arti magiche facesse apparire l’immagine di grossi maiali per disincentivare le ragazze che transitavano sul sentiero adiacente alla cappella per recarsi a ballare il sabato sera.
Un’altra testimonianza riporta la teoria che tali fenomeni nascessero dal divertimento degli abitanti di Esio, frazione di Premeno posta dal lato opposto della valle, che con fari proiettavano fasci di luce in mezzo al bosco di Intragna, rafforzando le varie leggende e credenze sull'esistenza di spiriti e fantasmi che si aggiravano per le valli di notte.
This chapel, situated in the middle of the wood along the mule track that goes down from Cambiesso to Intragna, contains a fresco with the crucifixion of Jesus. It is said that in the past “la Fisica” took place several times in the neighbourhood, that is, a series of spirits, lights and mysterious presences, sighted by the inhabitants of the village during the night.
It is said that the priest, standing on the top of the bell tower, through the use of magical arts, made the image of big pigs appear to discourage the girls who used to walk on the path near the chapel to go to dance on Saturday evenings.
Another testimony reports that these phenomena originated from the fun of the inhabitants of Esio, a hamlet of Premeno on the opposite side of the valley, who projected beams of light in the middle of the wood of Intragna, thus strengthening the various legends and beliefs about the existence of spirits and ghosts that wandered in the valleys at night.
