Il nucleo di Intragna è costruito su un pendio ripido, che fa sì che la distribuzione delle costruzioni sia su piani diversi con un dislivello considerevole. Questo fatto si nota in particolar modo in prossimità della chiesa di San Giacomo, dalla quale inizia, scendendo verticalmente, una scalinata in linea retta molto pendente, che termina in corrispondenza della cosiddetta Cappella del Torch, così chiamata poiché un tempo accanto ad essa era situato un edificio che ospitava un torchio da olio e da vino. Nel Catasto Teresiano del 1722 si può notare come gli appezzamenti a destra e a sinistra della lunga scalinata appartenessero a numerosi proprietari e fossero adibiti ad orto, esattamente come accade ancora oggi.
The centre of Intragna is built on a steep slope, thanks to which the distribution of the buildings is on different levels with a considerable difference in height. This can be remarkably noticed near the Church of San Giacomo, from which a straight sloping staircase begins descending vertically, ending at the so-called Chapel of the “Torch” (press), called in this way because in the past a building housing an oil and wine press was located close to it. In the Teresian Land Registry of 1722 you can notice that the plots of land to the right and to the left of the long staircase belonged to numerous owners and were used as vegetable gardens, exactly as it still happens today.
