La chiesa intitolata a S. Bartolomeo fu eretta a parrocchia il 18 novembre 1617. Verso la metà del '400 è soltanto una piccola cappella, che viene ampliata nei decenni successivi seguendo l'aumento della popolazione caprezzese. Da quel momento fino alla metà dell’800 le modifiche principali interessarono le cappelle laterali, l’aggiunta del portico in facciata e la costruzione del nuovo campanile nel 1744. Nel 1865 si modificò considerevolmente l’area del presbiterio con l’aggiunta di un coro, e si costruì la sacrestia. Le decorazioni “leggere e chiare” come il parroco don Varalli richiese sono del 1926 per mano del pittore Barzanelli.
Don Antonio Varalli, morto nel 1954 dopo esser stato parroco di Caprezzo per ben 53 anni, viene dopo un parroco ricordato per essere un dissipatore di finanze, mentre lui era il contrario. La prima cosa che ha fatto è dire: alle feste il prete sono io, al massimo viene il predicatore, o un confessore. Andava lui a comprare la carne o tutto quello che era necessario, diceva lui alla Rosa dell’Osteria delle Fonti di preparare il pranzo, poi c’erano le ragazze dell’azione cattolica a lavare i piatti ecc, magari dava anche a loro una piccola offerta…però i soldi erano soprattutto per la chiesa. La gente comunque capiva perché una delle ultime cose che ha fatto è stato il pavimento in marmo del presbiterio che costava 300.000 lire; lui era preoccupato, ma alla festa di San Bartolomeo tra tutti han tirato fuori più di 300.000 lire, e lui alla predica l’ha detto: “Non immaginavo...”. Sapevano che se li davano a lui, li usava per quello. Lui coltivava patate, pomodori, l’orto, aveva le galline, quindi d’estate vendeva la verdura e le uova e poi aveva le api, quindi vendeva anche il miele. Era un gran cercatore di funghi, e mangiava quello che riusciva ad avere coltivando o raccogliendo. The church dedicated to St. Bartholomew was erected as a Parish on November 18, 1617. Around the middle of the 15th century it was only a small chapel, which was enlarged in the next decades following the increase of the population in Caprezzo. From that moment until the mid-nineteenth century the main changes concerned the side chapels, the addition of the porch on the facade and the construction of the new bell tower in 1744. In 1865 the area of the presbytery was considerably changed with the addition of a choir, and the sacristy was built. The “light and clear” decorations, as required by the priest Don Varalli, are dated 1926 and were carried out by the painter Barzanelli.

They knew that if they had given them to him, he would have used them for that. He grew potatoes, tomatoes, a garden, he had hens, so in the summer he sold vegetables and eggs and then he had bees, so he also sold honey.
