La Rocca fu una delle tante torri di vedetta sparse in Val d’Ossola per segnalare in modo efficiente l'avanzata di possibili nemici. Quattro sono le ipotesi principali sulla sua origine: fondata in epoca romana (V secolo d.C.), in epoca romanica, all'epoca dell'invasione dei Borgognoni (850 d.C.) oppure direttamente da Agilulfo in epoca Longobarda. Quello che risulta certo è che nel 1348, insieme al Castello di Vogogna fatto ristrutturare da Giovanni Visconti, diventa una roccaforte. Venne distrutta nel XVI secolo a seguito di un'invasione di Vallesani e poi progressivamente abbandonata. Oggi è in stato di rudere.
The Rocca was one of the many watchtowers spread in Val d’Ossola to signal the advance of possible enemies. There are four hypotheses on its origin: it was founded in the Roman period (5th century A.D.), in the Romanesque period, in the period of the Borgognoni invasion (850 A.D.) or directly from Agilulf in the Langobard period. What is certain is that in 1348, together with the Castle of Vogogna which was restored by the will of Giovanni Visconti, it became a fortress. It was destroyed in the 16th century after an invasion of the troops of the Vallese and then it was progressively abandoned. Today it is in a state of ruin.
