La frazione di Genestredo è situata a 340 m s.l.m. poco più in alto del Castello di Vogogna, a cui è collegata da un antico sentiero pedonale, su un terrazzo orografico semi pianeggiante che interrompe l’accentuata inclinazione del pendio del versante. La borgata è circondata folti boschi di castagni e altri latifoglie che conseguentemente all’abbandono dell’attività agricola dei versanti si sono rapidamente espansi. Dal villaggio si apre un vasto panorama verso le montagne del versante occidentale della Val d’Ossola. L’agglomerato di edifici è fitto, attraversato da una rete di viottoli in parte ancora lastricati. Le abitazioni conservano nella maggior parte la struttura originaria, in buono stato di conservazione. Di particolare interesse sono le numerose strutture collettive che si trovano all’interno del villaggio: fontanili, lavatoi, il forno ed il torchio.
The hamlet of Genestredo is situated at 340 m above sea level, a little higher than the Castle of Vogogna, to which it is connected by an ancient pedestrian path, on a semi-flat terracing area that interrupts the marked slope of the mountain side. The village is surrounded by thick woods of chestnut trees and other broadleaved trees which rapidly expanded, as a result of the abandonment of the agricultural activity on the slopes. A wide panorama extends from the village towards the mountains of the western slope of Val d’Ossola. The built up area is thick, crossed by a network of partly paved narrow streets. Most of the houses keep the original structure, in a good state of preservation. The numerous collective structures inside the village, such as fountains, wash-tubs, the oven and the press, are very interesting.
